7:30 pm - 9:15 pm
Did you know that Canada is home to the world’s longest green highway—a network of 10,000 km of electric charging stations? It’s all thanks to Kent Rathwell, a sustainability superhero.
Through his company, Sun Country Highway, Rathwell built a Canada-wide network of free public chargers (including chargers on Salt Spring) to support the electric vehicle movement. Rathwell also built a successful birdseed business – Sun Country Farms – the first zero-emission company in Saskatchewan and the most sustainable birdseed company in the world.
Kent Rathwell is challenging and changing the Canadian business model. Please join us in a wide-ranging conversation with him—about the environment, entrepreneurship, electric vehicles and sustainable farming.
Tickets are available at ArtSpring (250.537.2102 or online) and Salt Spring Books. $15 2017 Forum Members; $20 General.
Join us at 6:30 PM for a reception sponsored by the Country Grocer – who is generously helping to sponsor this event – before the 7:30 PM discussion.
Please note that on February 5th renowned Canadian poet Jan Zwicky will also speak on Salt Spring. She’ll read – at the Library at 4:00 PM – from her newest collection, which explores our relationship to the natural world and the environmental crisis.
