10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Noam Chomsky, the most influential intellectual of our time, joins the Salt Spring Forum for an exceptional on-screen event: both in film and live! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a Salt Spring audience to speak directly with Noam Chomsky!
At 10:30 AM, the event begins with a screening of the documentary Requiem for the American Dream, which is made up of four years worth of interviews with Professor Chomsky. In it, Chomsky argues that the bulk of America’s wealth and influence has been transferred to the hands of a few, and illustrates the devastating effects this has on democracy.
At noon, following the film, attendees are invited to a reception – with light snacks and beverages generously sponsored by the Country Grocer.
At 12:30 PM, Noam Chomsky joins the Forum exclusively for a live, fully interactive discussion from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology via video-conferencing software. Dr. Chomsky is professor emeritus at MIT where he taught for more than 50 years. A linguist, philosopher, historian, social critic, and activist, he is the author of more than one hundred books.
*Advance tickets are now SOLD OUT though please note that the Forum will also put 30 tickets on sale 10 minutes prior to the 10:30 AM event for seats with imperfect sightlines – available on a first come first serve basis.
