The Forum's 5th Anniversary Featuring Globe Columnist Lawrence Martin

13 Feb 2016
6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Salt Spring Forum celebrates its 5th birthday by welcoming back the very first Forum speaker, Globe & Mail National Affairs Columnist and author Lawrence Martin for a discussion on The Undoing of Harperland: Where Trudeau Will Lead Canada. After the discussion in the ArtSpring theatre, be sure to stay for a special reception in the gallery.

Lawrence Martin is the author of ten books and an Ottawa-based columnist for The Globe and Mail on public affairs. He served as bureau chief for the Globe and Mail in Montreal, Washington and Moscow, and has been a columnist for the paper for 13 years. Martin’s books include several critically-acclaimed national best-sellers: a two-volume biography of Jean Chretien, two volumes on Canada-U.S. relations, a history of the Gorbachev government, a biography of Lucien Bouchard, and a biography of hockey star Mario Lemieux. Martin’s most recent book Harperland, which was nominated for several awards, exposed the unprecedented degree of control that Stephen Harper exercised over Ottawa institutions as well as the secrecy and anti-democratic nature of the Harper government.

*Please note the earlier than usual 6:30 pm start time in the theatre. The gallery reception takes place at 8:00 pm.

Tickets are available at ArtSpring at 537.2102 and online, and at Salt Spring Books. $15 Forum Members; $20 General.
