This past year was eventful, to say the least! Many countries saw a rise in right-wing populism, British citizens voted to leave the European Union, and Donald Trump was elected president of the United States.
If that wasn’t enough, what’s coming up in 2017?
Was Brexit just the beginning of a much-diminished European Union? Might France – with far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen – be next? What implications might Trump’s relationship with Vladimir Putin have for the European Union, NATO, Ukraine and the Baltic States? Are there reasons for optimism? What role might Canada play?
On Sunday, January 8th at 7:30 PM at Mahon Hall, the Salt Spring Forum launches a new year of community discussions—with a guest who is uniquely qualified to speak about these pressing issues.
