Volunteer Opportunities for Youth:
We value youth participation at the Salt Spring Forum and recognize that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. There are many roles for student volunteers at the Forum including
- Managing the wireless microphone during speaker events
- Setting up and taking down at events
- Assisting at membership and information booths
- Engaging fellow students
- Photographing events
Why Volunteer with the Forum?
In addition to learning from (and sometimes even meeting) Forum guest speakers, who are world-class experts in their given fields, by volunteering students gain valuable leadership experience which can later be applied in their future careers. Student volunteers engage with current issues as well as with the Salt Spring community. For regular volunteers who demonstrate skills and a commitment to the Forum, the organization’s manager can write letters of recommendation on a per request basis. For students who volunteer a total of 30 hours during the school year, the manager can complete a volunteer experience form from GISS.
Free Tickets to Students
The Salt Spring Forum highly values youth participation and offers free admission for students to Forum events (as long as there are student tickets still available at the time they are requested). In order to receive a free student ticket, students must email email@example.com NO LATER than four days prior to a given event and request a ticket. The manager will then let the student know if there are student tickets still available and if so, will reserve the ticket.
