Auntie Pesto’s

Auntie Pesto’s has been family owned and operated on Salt Spring since 2004. Nestled on the waterfront boardwalk, in the heart of Ganges Village, Auntie Pesto’s has delicious lunch and dinner offerings. Red Seal Chef Shawn Walton prepares a seasonal from scratch menu using quality local ingredients from his own kitchen garden as well as from many local growers, producers and artisans, using them to create innovative and inspired specials. The cafe is a warm and friendly space filled with local art, fresh flowers and the sumptuous smells of home cooking.

Cafe Talia

Cafe Talia is tucked away on a quiet street in Ganges, the heart of beautiful Salt Spring Island and is owned and operated by Salt Spring Forum board member Aletha Humphreys. This charming cafe offers locally roasted coffee, delicious treats, light breakfasts and lunches. Many items are made in house and others are the fine work of local producers and master bakers. Cafe Talia is a favourite of locals and a find for visitors!

Country Grocer – Salt Spring Island

Conveniently located in the heart of Ganges, the Salt Spring Island Country Grocer is a 28,000-square-foot destination market for both locals and visitors. Store manager Mark Vekeman is pleased to welcome shoppers from throughout the island who will be thrilled to discover the large produce section well-stocked with organic and local items, a full-service meat and seafood counter, and of course, a bakery and deli. As an avid supporter of the Salt Spring community, the Country Grocer is pleased to lend its support to local organizations such as the Salt Spring Forum.

Diverse & Inclusive Salt Spring Island

Diverse and Inclusive Salt Spring Island (DAISSI formerly known as GLOSSI) is a non-profit society for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning people with Allies on Salt Spring Island. DAISSI undertakes educational outreach services on LGBTQ+ issues for the community at large, provides opportunities for fun and socializing, and offers referral services to individuals who need support and comfort. Each year DAISSI organizes the third-largest Pride celebrations in British Columbia with a weekend-long festival on the second weekend of every September.


Driftwood Gulf Islands Media

Driftwood Gulf Islands Media publishes the Driftwood newspaper, which was established in 1960, Aqua – Gulf Islands Living magazine, Gulf Islands Real Estate and other print and online products.

Salt Spring Cheese

Salt Spring Cheese is guided by the belief that a better kind of food business is one that reflects both good community and good food, as the two frequently go together. They specialize in handmade goat and sheep cheeses. They started making cheese in 1994 and started selling it in 1996. Principally, they’re known for their chèvres, although they also make several other types of goat cheeses (feta cheeses, surface ripened cheeses, and even a hard cheese).

Salt Spring Documentary Film Festival

The Salt Spring Documentary Film Festival brings a feast of independent documentary films from Canada and around the world to film lovers here on Salt Spring Island. There is something for everyone at their annual three-day festival: movies that explore music, art and culture, engage humanitarian and social justice concerns and deal with environmental and international issues.

The Exchange is a highly engaged online community for locals and visitors from around the world. Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce

The Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce, established in 1948, is not-for-profit organization representing more than 350 business owners and individuals on the island. It seeks to create and maintain a prosperous environment for business and industry, while protecting and enhancing the island’s sustainability and improving its economic viability.

Salt Spring Island Conservancy

The Salt Spring Island Conservancy was formed to help the community preserve natural habitats on Salt Spring Island and in surrounding waters. Its core functions are public education, holding conservation covenants, acquiring ecologically valuable land and helping land owners become good stewards of their own land.  Since 1995, they have helped buy or protect over 1181 hectares (3000 acres) on Salt Spring Island. In the process, they have built strong partnerships with other conservation groups and government agencies.

SaltSpring Air

SaltSpring Air – the islanders airline – offers scheduled seaplane service between Salt Spring Island, Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Downtown Vancouver/ Vancouver Harbour, and Maple Bay on Vancouver Island. Saltspring Air also provides charter seaplane flights to the Gulf Islands and Pat Bay. Charter flights and scenic sightseeing flights are available to any destination throughout the west coast of British Columbia.

Volunteer and Community Resources (VCR) is a vibrant organization that serves not-for-profits and volunteers. As a volunteer hub for Salt Spring Island, VCR aims to encourage community involvement. The organization serves as a connecting point for organizations to build relationships and gain knowledge that can help them better serve their communities and strengthen their own services.
