Elon Musk intends to colonize Mars. The founder of Tesla, Solar City and SpaceX builds great machines, but it’s not clear that he’s worked through all the philosophical, political and legal implications of inter-planetary travel.

Sixteen students from the University of British Columbia have decided to help Musk out by writing research reports on some of the great challenges facing humanity on the “final frontier”

On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, the students will present drafts of their reports at a public workshop at Gulf Islands Secondary School. Salt Spring community members are warmly invited to attend and, if they wish, provide constructive criticism and comment. Attendees may come and leave the workshop as they choose.
